On this site you can find information about our OHS course and FAQs about the Working Environment Organization, OHS representatives and supervisors and much more.
All companies with 10 or more employees must have a working environment group and an elected working environment representative (AMR) as well as a supervisor.
The working environment organization / Occupational Health and Safety Organization (AMO) is central to ensuring a good and healthy working environment in the workplace. It is the employer's responsibility to build a working environment organization in cooperation with the employees and supervisors. The difference in the requirements for the working environment organization depends on the number of employees.
In smaller companies, there is no formal requirement to establish a working environment organization. Here, it is the employer's responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for the employees.
Companies with between 10 and 34 employees must establish a working environment group, which consists of a supervisor appointed by the employer and a working environment representative (AMR) elected by the employees. This working environment group is responsible for handling working environment tasks such as workplace assessment (APV), control and prevention of working environment-related problems. To ensure effective work in this organization, it is important that the people involved have completed relevant training, including the mandatory OHS course.
Companies with more than 35 employees must establish a working environment organization (AMO), which consists of both supervisors appointed by the employer and working environment representatives (AMR) elected by the employees. The difference here is that there is no longer a formal safety group, but a broader working environment organization, which can consist of several supervisors and working environment representatives. This working environment organization works closely together to ensure the working environment through activities.
OHS Training is a mandatory education for occupational health representatives and supervisors who are members of the Working Environment Organization.
Apropos Kommunikation is an autorized provider of the OHS course.
The purpose of the training is to ensure that members of the occupational health and safety organization have the necessary knowledge and skills to participate actively in occupational health and safety work and contribute to a safe and healthy working environment.
Within our online occupational health and safety education, several topics are covered, including:
The occupational health and safety representative acts as a link between employees and management in occupational health and safety matters. Their primary goal is to ensure that employees' interests and needs in relation to the working environment are heard and considered. Therefore, one of the most important parameters is that you, as an occupational health and safety representative, are curious and interested in the many aspects of occupational health and safety work on behalf of your colleagues. Furthermore, the occupational health and safety representative will often be present at a meeting when the Danish Working Environment Authority visits the company.
The supervisors, together with the health and safety representatives, make up the members of the AMO.
The function of supervisor in the AMO must be performed by one or more people who direct the work carried out at the workplace. He or she must also have knowledge of the workplace's core tasks, production and performance.
As a new occupational health and safety representative or supervisor, you must undergo occupational health and safety training. This is a requirement from the Danish Working Environment Authority. Apropos Kommunikation is certified by the Danish Working Environment Authority to train members of the Occupational Health and Safety Organization.
We have gathered important knowledge about occupational health and safety work. Click on the sections below and learn more about the topic.
For newly elected members of the occupational health and safety organization, the occupational health and safety training is particularly interesting, as it gives you the necessary knowledge and skills to perform your role effectively. The training gives you a deep understanding of your responsibilities and tasks within the occupational health and safety area and equips you with tools to identify and tackle challenges in your working environment. This regardless of whether you are an employee (occupational health and safety representative) or a manager (occupational health and safety manager).
By participating in our occupational health and safety training, you will increase your value as a member of the Occupational Health and Safety Organization. In the future, you will help create a safe and healthy working environment at your company and thus contribute to protecting the health and well-being of your colleagues.
The mandatory occupational health and safety training is a mandatory education for occupational health representatives and supervisors who are members of the Working Environment Organization.
The supplementary occupational health and safety training is for those of you who are already members of the Danish Occupational Health and Safety Organization (AMO) and has undergone the mandatory OHS course.
As a member of your company's occupational health and safety organization, you are entitled to two days of supplementary occupational health and safety training in the first year, and 1.5 days in the second year. There should therefore be a focus on strengthening the occupational health and safety organization's competencies so that both the supervisor and the representative can carry out their tasks and duties in occupational health and safety work and be updated on the regulations. Information and registration for the supplementary occupational health and safety training here.
In companies with 35 or more employees, a two-level AMO must be established with health and safety groups and health and safety committees.
The two levels are:
1) Health and Safety Committee
2) Health and Safety Groups
The working environment committee / Health and Safety Committee
When 35 employees or more are employed, a working environment committee (AMU) must be established. The committee consists of supervisors appointed by the employer and working environment representatives elected by the employees. The occupational health and safety committee functions as a broader and more comprehensive structure that manages occupational health and safety issues. The committee may consist of several supervisors and occupational health and safety representatives to ensure broad representation and involvement of different work areas and employee groups.
The working environment group / Health and Safety Groups
A working environment group typically consists of a supervisor appointed by the employer and a working environment representative elected by the employees. The working environment group works closely together to strengthen the working environment and handle working environment-related tasks. These tasks may include workplace assessment (APV), planning, control, prevention, recording accidents and information to colleagues.
The occupational health and safety representative can provide advice and information to employees about their rights and obligations in relation to the working environment. They can answer questions, provide guidance, and inform about safety procedures, preventive measures and relevant occupational health and safety initiatives. In addition, the occupational health and safety representative can help identify potential hazards and assess risks in the working environment. They can be aware of unsafe working conditions, dangerous situations or work-related health problems and pass this information on to relevant parties to take necessary action.
The occupational health and safety representative has the right to participate in occupational health and safety meetings where occupational health and safety issues are discussed.
Responsibilities, tasks, and roles
The tasks of the occupational health and safety representative depend on the conditions at your company. Therefore, you must primarily, together with the occupational health and safety group, familiarize yourself with important conditions for employees and managers at your company. Are there specific issues that you need to be aware of in your industry? Are there ongoing investigations or follow-up that needs to be done?
As an occupational health and safety representative, you are part of your company's occupational health and safety organization. How exactly you organize yourself depends on the size of your company and agreements made in the area. Occupational health and safety work includes both overall strategic tasks and daily operational tasks.
